The Ecig Etiquette Primer

One of the great things about using electronic cigarettes is being free from the clinging smoke that tends to be unwelcome in a lot of places. Since ecigs create a vapor that doesn't stick to clothing or hang in the air, many public establishments allow vaping. However, there are still a few things we should keep in mind when we use electronic cigarettes in the company of strangers.

Make No Assumptions

For a variety of reasons, electronic cigarettes are still not universally accepted, and are lumped together with cigarettes in a lot of areas. You will avoid a lot of hassle by educating yourself on the legislation on ecigs in your area.

Ask the People in Charge

If you're in a bar, it's a simple matter to ask a server or the bartender if the establishment allows vaping. Getting thrown out can be especially embarrassing if the cause is your ecig. Many establishments allow vaping openly, but it never hurts to be sure. There might even be a special area for vapers, and making assumptions can only lead to misunderstandings.

Use Common Sense

It shouldn't even be worth mentioning, but it's not cool to breathe vapor on someone else's face. The fact that it's not cigarette smoke doesn't make the act any less rude and insulting.

Despite the differences between ecigs and regular cigarettes, most of the rules of good conduct still apply. Vaping is a liberating experience, but it shouldn't make us forget our manners.
